The Oral HPV Test
WHAT IT IS
The Oral HPV Test is a saliva-based screening for the 14 high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes most strongly linked to oropharyngeal cancers. The test uses real-time PCR to detect the specific HPV strains that, when persistent, can drive head and neck cancer development.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) now accounts for a rising number of head and neck cancers in North America and Europe. Most cases are caused by persistent high-risk HPV infection. The cancer is often silent for years before it shows up. Screening catches the virus before it does.
HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer is now the most common HPV-associated cancer in the U.S. — surpassing cervical cancer — and rates are rising fastest in middle-aged men.
WHAT IT SCREENS FOR
14 high-risk (oncogenic) HPV genotypes:
HPV-16, HPV-18, HPV-31, HPV-33, HPV-35, HPV-39, HPV-45, HPV-51, HPV-52, HPV-56, HPV-58, HPV-59, HPV-66, HPV-68

LAB AND TECHNOLOGY
Powered by SimplyTest® Oral HPV. This test uses real-time PCR technology and is processed in a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory.
This test is designed to provide insight and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. A positive result indicates the presence of a high-risk HPV genotype but does not constitute a cancer diagnosis. All findings should be discussed with your physician.
